Look what's here!

Remember my Angel Story Quilt that I finished the top for back here? Well..... It's come back from the quilters looking lovely (as usual....Thankyou so much Sue) and yesterday I got the binding machine stitched on, so now all I have to do is find the time to do the hand-stitching! Might be a challenge this week given that i'm working full-time at the moment! Work really does get in the way of my craft *sigh*!

Anyway..... here's a sneak peak:
Miss 10 (almost 11....eeek) aka Little Miss Thimble also got her beautiful coin quilt back from the quilters, but I'll show you that after she's had a chance to post about it herself.

The Quilting really does bring them to life don't you think?

Until next time.....

Bagalicious Finish!

I know I said I'd post about Saturdays creation on Sunday and here it is Tuesday already...... *sigh*
But what a lovely day it was.........
Nic from Luv 'N' Hugs and I both joined the Bagalicious club some time ago as a joint project and an excuse to spend regular sewing time together.  We were both very excited to have our first parcels arrive and managed to spend almost the whole day together on Saturday to complete our first bag, the "Authentic Bag" by Sweetwater.

Here you can see it being modelled by Miss 10.... who has now laid claim to it!

It certainly seems that bags are the flavour of the moment now that i've stopped making pencil rolls!

Until Next Time......

Happy Birthday Nic!

Yesterday I decided to enlarge the Buttercup Bag Pattern and have another attempt at making one in time for my dear friend Nic's Birthday from Luv 'N' Hugs. This time I used a canvas lining to make it a good sturdy bag and I even persuaded my hubby to pick up some magnetic bag fasteners for me while in town ....Convincing my hubby to venture into Spotlight is no small feat .... he must be as fond of Nic as I am!
The fabrics are "Penelope By Alice Kennedy for Timeless Treasures Fabric"
And Nic just loved it!

Here it is beside the first Buttercup Bag I made.... you can find the tutorial at "Made by Rae" here.
I decided to give the small bag to Nic's daughter, Miss Georgie.... she was wrapped!

Nic emailed me this pic.... since I forgot to photograph the matching zippered pouch I made!

Another busy sewing day here today as I've had Nic over all day.... will show and tell tomorrow!
Until Next Time......
Happy Stitching

I love Pressies!

I was so excited to receive a "Just Because" pressie in the mail today from my very talented (not in a sewing type of way) sister, Kristy......... she sent me this beautiful fairy drawing which I can't wait to get framed and up on the wall.  Kris has been able to draw beautifully for almost as long as I can remember but seemed to stop for a number of years and has only recently started again (which I'm so glad about)..... head over to her blog "Kristy's Random Haunt" and check our her other creations..... I'm sure she would love to hear your thoughts!
Isn't she lovely??

Until Next Time....

Buttercup Bag

This afternoon I whipped up this cute little Buttercup Bag using a pattern from Made By Rae that you can find here. It was very quick to make and went together beautifully with nice clear instructions. Since I didn't have a magnetic snap, I covered a button and included a small loop to hook over it instead, which I think I like better anyway. I was initially making it as a gift for someone special but now i'm thinking it may be a bit on the small side..... I bet Miss 10 would love a couple of these in nice bright colours!

Maybe I had better keep it??
Until next time.......

It's a Girl!

Well now that my friends baby has arrived safe and well this afternoon, I can show you what I made her last night as there's not much chance of her seeing it now that she's in hospital.

I used The Amy Butler Nappy Bag pattern and Michael Miller "Feeling Groovy" fabric to make a much more modern looking Nappy Bag than most of the one's you see in shops ........ which are so not Cath!

It has a phone pocket on the outside:
And lots of big roomy pockets on the inside:
And the more I look at it the more I like it..... So probably a good thing i'm wrapping it up tomorrow before I get too attached to it..... I can't wait to meet baby Claire!

And this is where my inspiration came from:
This bag was made a couple of years ago by Martha of "Princess Martha"and I liked the small changes she'd made so much that I made my version almost identical....... Thanks Martha!

Until next time.......
Happy Stitching!

A Sneak Peak and a Finish for Jo!

Well I'm pleased to report that I managed to get the baby gift I started yesterday all finished...... and bub hasn't even arrived yet! I can't show you the whole thing yet, you never know who might be sticky-beaking on here, but I will give you a sneak peak.
It's quite lairy compared to the things I usually make so now i'm panicking that she wont like it (but will feel obliged to use it)...... I often struggle to choose fabrics when making things for other people!
So now you just have to wait until I get that eagerly awaited phone call before I can show you the rest of it. :)

While I was busy making my baby gift, my sewing partner for the day managed to get this whole quilt quilted and bound. Isn't it pretty?..... I know her Miss 7 is going to love it!
Can you believe she didn't think this lovely quilt was up to standard for my blog???

The pattern is called "Squares and Hourglass" and was from an old issue of Better Homes and Gardens.... fabric from Spotlight.

Until next time....

I told you so!

I did mention that you'd be seeing a lot more of these but I decided to finish all three at once and get them out of the way so that I don't bore you with post after post of pencil rolls.  Miss 10 chose the pretty alphabet fabric from the Cosmo Cricket "Girl Friday" range. Master 7 chose the pirate fabric the "Timless Treasures Kids" range and for the denim one i've used some of the "Farmers Market" range by Sandi Henderson.

Well I think that does it for pencil rolls at the moment....... now I have to get started on a baby gift for one of my dear friends who was due to have her baby on Thursday (10 days ago)..... now if she can just keep her legs crossed until i'm done!

Until next time......

What a life!

I had the BEST day yesterday..........
My dear friend Nic over at Luv 'N' Hugs invited me to meet her in Dubbo for a day at the movies where I also got to meet the lovely Chookyblue. We saw the hilarious movie "It's Complicated" followed by coffee and a 100 mile an hour chat before I had to head back to pick up the children from school. I felt very spoilt taking time out to catch a movie in the middle of the day and enjoyed it so much that I decided to continue spoiling myself once I got home..... I ordered Chinese for dinner and then sat and watched another movie with Miss 10!

Today: I've continued to ignore the housework waiting for me, and managed to get a bit of sewing done..... I just love sitting and sewing on rainy days! Will take some photo's in the morning for show and tell as i've run out of daylight here now.

Tomorrow: I have another lovely friend Jo who is coming to play...... so should have even more sewing to show you tomorrow afternoon.

I suppose the fun does have to end sometime......... will schedule housework for Monday (unless I get a better offer that is).

And because I can't do a post without a picture: This is an embroidery I did some time ago...... still my favourite! My beautiful friend Trish had it framed for me for my birthday.
Until next time.....
Happy Stitching!
